The primary objectives of the Library program at Saint Elizabeth School are:
To teach students the skills needed to navigate the school library and every library by providing instruction in the Dewey Decimal System and the use of reference materials.
To encourage participation in local library programs by posting information regarding author visits, holiday events and summer clubs.
To keep an up-to-date collection of appropriate materials including books, periodicals, and audio-visual works, by reading current journals, and by listening to the students’ requests for particular books and book series.
To assist teachers and students by providing the resources needed for independent research for students.
To read and display season appropriate literature, including major holidays and monthly celebrations such as African American History month, National Library week, Women’s History month and Earth week.
To instill a love of reading by introducing materials geared toward a student’s particular interests.
