Social Studies in Middle School covers a variety of topics. Along with the basic history in the curriculum, we cover geography, economics, civics, government, anthropology, and current events. The 6th grade history curricula is Ancient Civilizations. Seventh and Eighth Grades cover American History I and II. Seventh Grade includes Pre-Revolutionary influences, the American Revolutionary War through the expansion westward and Government. Eighth Grade begins with Pre-Civil War influences, through the Civil War to modern times. Students use primary sources often, are taught to analyze charts, graphs and statistics, and become familiar with the world around them, both geographically and through current events.
